Practical guide for site managers
Checklist: preparing a site for handover cleaning
A smooth handover clean starts before our team arrives. This checklist helps you, as a site manager or developer, ensure the cleaning runs perfectly on the agreed day — without wasted hours or extra costs.
1. Remove coarse debris & waste
- Dispose of large construction waste (drywall, insulation, wood) in a container.
- Remove packaging material, plastic film and empty paint buckets.
- Peel off stickers from windows, doors, sanitary ware and appliances before cleaning.
- Remove protective film from floors and stairs or clearly mark it.
2. Water & electricity available
- Working tap on every floor (hot water not required).
- At least 2 active power outlets per zone for vacuum cleaners and machines.
- Working lighting in all rooms – including basement, storage and technical rooms.
- Elevator operational for projects with multiple floors.
3. Access & planning
- Provide keys, badges or door codes in time (ideally 48h in advance).
- Provide a parking spot for the van close to the entrance.
- Other contractors kept off site during cleaning (no overlapping work).
- Communicate a clear handover date so planning is watertight.
4. Finishing checked before cleaning
- Paint and filler work fully dry and finished.
- Silicone and sealant joints cured (min. 24h).
- Sanitary ware, kitchen and appliances installed and connected.
- No outstanding work items left in the areas to be cleaned.
5. Share specific points of attention
- Flag delicate materials (natural stone, solid parquet, designer taps).
- Specifically name rooms that do NOT need cleaning.
- Extra requests: inside cabinets, exterior windows, terrace or garage.
- On-site contact person with phone number for the day itself.
